About Youth Exchange „Back to roots” |

“Back to roots” is a non-formal program for young people aged between 15 and 18 years. The program will be hosted by Ķekava Municipality Culture Agency (Latvia) in partnership with Nilufer Youth Council (Turkey) .
A key aim of the program is to inspire youngsters to build awareness of traditional culture heritage, to encourage them to participate in activities related to material and non-material cultural heritage preservation, to get acquainted with traditional music instruments from different countries and to take an initiative in between other young people to promote positive attitude to art and culture in general.
To achieve these aims, the program of the exchange project will facilitate a free time and non-formal learning about Latvian and Turkish traditional cultural heritage as well as physical activities between the session such as orienteering, safe cycling lessons.
As a result, all of the participants will engage in new and different activities, with the program encouraging enthusiasm, initiative and fresh ideas to further build awareness of cultural heritage preservation and promotion in their lives continues.
This youth exchange will be held in Baloži (Latvia) and run over seven days, from the 5th to the11th September 2011. The exchange will have 26 participants and their leaders.
